Terms of service
These terms govern your use of discoverymailbox.com and your subscription to Letters from Dr. Marlowe Finch ("the Service"), published by Discovery Mailbox, Inc. By subscribing, you agree to these terms.
The subscription
- Discovery Mailbox offers a recurring subscription for physical mail, billed monthly at $14.99. Prices in US dollars, exclusive of any applicable taxes.
- A one-time, non-renewing trial is available at $9.99 and covers Entry 1 of the series, plus the matching specimen card and field mission. The trial does not automatically convert to a subscription. A trial subscriber may begin a $14.99/month subscription separately at any time; the final billing cycle of any subscription that includes a paid trial bills at $5 (one letter only), so the total cost across the full series matches a direct subscriber.
- Recurring subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel anytime by requesting a billing-portal link from the Manage page or by emailing hello@discoverymailbox.com.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. You authorize Stripe to charge your chosen payment method on the original subscription date each billing period.
Delivery
- US addresses only at launch.
- The first envelope ships within roughly a week of the day you subscribe — a rolling welcome shipment. Every envelope after that rides the publication calendar: Entry A on the 1st, Entry B on the 15th of each month.
- Delivery timing is subject to USPS. Most envelopes arrive within 3–5 business days after they go out.
- If a letter does not arrive, email hello@discoverymailbox.com. We'll track and replace at our cost.
Address changes
Shipping address changes take effect for the next un-printed envelope. The first envelope is addressed to your child by first name and has a short print lead time — name or address changes submitted within that window may not apply to the first envelope.
Cancellation and refunds
- Cancel anytime. Your subscription remains active through the end of the paid billing period. You will not be charged again after cancellation.
- Refund policy: refund the last unshipped month on request within 30 days of cancellation. We do not pro-rate mid-month.
- We reserve the right to cancel a subscription and refund the unshipped balance if fulfillment becomes impossible (address undeliverable, country no longer served, etc.).
Intellectual property
All letter content, illustrations, specimen cards, field missions, and the Letters from Dr. Marlowe Finch and Discovery Mailbox names are copyright © Discovery Mailbox, Inc. You may keep, read, frame, and share the physical letters we mail you. You may not reproduce the content commercially or republish it online without written permission.
Limitation of liability
Discovery Mailbox is a physical product delivered by mail. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts of Orange County, California.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email to active subscribers at least 14 days before taking effect.
